Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born 26 March 1991 and professionally referred to under the surname Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 21st, 2016 Pho was released by her which was her first EP released on the label Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she gained her first recognition. Her first studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music online in the year 2012, when she released her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. Her uploads continued tracks online through 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. Her music was also featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes which was released on Sweat It Out on July 21, 2015. J. Cole, who was a member of the Dreamville crew at that time and wanted her to work on Rihanna in reference to Rihanna. In December, it was revealed 8that she was signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat, the track she performed with Cozz on the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. She released Pho, her debut album on October 21st the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and was an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. Also, she was featured on the track Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas the label's co-founders. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on September 5. Then, in November, she released singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. And on the 13th of November the singer released two new singles, titled No One or Pdigree. Later, she was featured on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track entitled Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on February 26th, 2019 for her debut album the same name. The track was supported by the release of a music video that was released on February 20, 2019 and it surpassed 3 million views on YouTube within the first week. She was the opening act for 6LACK during their From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
